Ferry Service to Tarbert, Kintyre
Caledonian MacBrayne are our local ferry service provider and they operate several routes. Service times change during Summer and Winter, therefore you will be well advised to check the times. Details of some of their Summer ferry services (valid from March 25 to October 22, 2011), which are relevant to Tarbert, and that you might be interested in, are given below:
Claonaig to Lochranza (Arran)
Summer Timetable:
Claonaig is a small village about 9 miles from Tarbert. Going there is easy, just follow the A83 towards Campbeltown for about four and a half miles and as you drive past Kennacraig, turn left on the B8001. Claonaig is about another four and a half miles. Latest Check-in 10 minutes before departure. Sailings to and from are daily (Including Sundays). Journey takes approximately 30 minutes each way. Fares vary depending upon what you are carrying with you, for example you might be carrying a boat in a trailer. Current fares are: 'Driver/Passenger (each) £5.40; Car (each) £22.85; Motorcycle £11.95 and Bicycle Free'. Subject to availability! NOTE: Bus service operates between Claonaig, Kennacraig and Tarbert - Contact Argyll & Bute Council, Tel: 01546 604695. Bus service between Lochranza and Brodick contact Strathclyde Transport, Tel: 08706 082608. Please note I have given only the Departure times, as I said journey takes only half an hour.

Tarbert to Portavadie
Summer Timetable:
Latest Check-in 10 minutes before departure. Sailings, to and from, are daily (Including Sundays). Journey time approximately 25 minutes. Maximum Laden Weight may be restricted. Check with Kennacraig office Tel: 01880 730253. Fares vary depending upon what you are carrying with you, for example you might be carrying a boat in a trailer. Current fares are: 'Driver/Passenger (each) £3.75; Car (each) £16.85; Motorcycle £8.45 and Bicycle Free'. Bus services between Portavadie and Dunoon, Tarbert, Kennacraig, and Claonaig are available. Tayinloan to Gigha
Summer Timetable:
Latest Check-in 10 minutes before departure. Sailings, to and from, are Monday to Saturday (On Sundays only 7 times are available from 10:00 to 17:00). Journey time approximately 20 minutes. Maximum Laden Weight may be restricted. Caravan Trailers are not permitted on Gigha. Check with Kennacraig office Tel: 01880 730253. Kennacraig to Port Askaig (Islay)
Summer Timetable:
Latest Check-in 30 minutes before departure in Kennacraig and 45 minutes in Port Askaig. Sailings, to and from, are Monday to Saturday (None on Sundays). Journey time approximately 2 hours. Maximum Laden Weight may be restricted. Check with Kennacraig office Tel: 01880 730253. Kennacraig to Port Ellen (Islay)
DUE TO MAJOR CONSTRUCTION WORK ON PORT ELLEN PIER, THE SHIPS WILL SAIL TO PORT ASKAIG ONLY.
Summer Timetable:
Latest Check-in 30 minutes before departure in Kennacraig and 45 minutes in Port Ellen. Sailings, to and from, are Mondays to Sundays, but there is no service on Wednesday. Journey time approximately 2 hours and 10 minutes. Maximum Laden Weight may be restricted. Check with Kennacraig office Tel: 01880 730253. Fares vary depending upon what you are carrying with you, for example you might be carrying a boat in a trailer.
